BYOB Party Bus Rules: What You Can (and Can't) Bring on Your Seattle Party Limo
BYOB Party Bus Rules: What You Can (and Can’t) Bring on Your Seattle Party Limo
One of the most common questions we get: “Can we bring our own drinks?” The short answer is YES — but there are rules. Here’s everything you need to know to keep the party going and everyone safe.
Yes, You Can BYOB 🎉
Our party buses are BYOB (Bring Your Own Beverage). We do not provide alcohol of any kind, but you’re welcome to bring your own for the ride. This is one of the best parts of a party bus — you can’t do this in an Uber!
⚠️ Washington State Banquet Permit — REQUIRED
This is important: Under Washington State law, if you’re serving or consuming alcohol at a gathering in a public conveyance (like a party bus), you are required to obtain a Banquet Permit from the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (LCB).
How to Get Your Banquet Permit
- Cost: $25 per day of your event
- Apply online: Washington State LCB Banquet Permit Portal | Questions? Call (360) 664-1600
- Processing: You’ll receive your permit via email after completing the online application
- Payment: Credit or debit card required
- Print your permit and have it available on the bus
- Email us your permit: Once you receive your permit, email a copy along with your permit number and reservation number to [email protected] so we have it on file for your ride
The Bus Rules (Non-Negotiable)
Banquet Permit Required: If you’re bringing alcohol, you’ll need a Washington State Banquet Permit ($25/day). Apply online and have the permit available on the bus during your ride.
No Smoking
No smoking of any kind on the bus — cigarettes, vapes, or anything else. This protects our leather seats, keeps the air clean for everyone, and is required by law.

Cleanup Expectations
We want you to have fun, but please be respectful of the bus:
- Use the trash containers provided on every bus
- Clean up major spills if they happen
- Don’t pour drinks on the floor (yes, this has happened)
- The person who booked the bus is responsible for any damage — see your rental agreement
A clean bus means we can offer great service to the next group — and keeps our prices fair for everyone.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is BYOB allowed on a party bus in Washington?
Yes, BYOB is allowed on our Seattle party buses for groups with passengers who are legally allowed to drink. Seattle Party Limo does not provide alcohol, so your group brings its own drinks, mixers, cups, and ice. Alcohol use still has to follow Washington law and the rules in your rental agreement.
Do I need a banquet permit for alcohol on the bus?
Yes, Washington requires a banquet permit when alcohol is consumed during a private event on a party bus. The permit is issued by the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board, costs $25 per day, and should be printed or available during the ride. Email the permit number and a copy to us before your event so it is on file.
Can under-21 passengers be on the bus if adults are drinking?
Under-21 passengers can be on some mixed-age events, but they cannot consume alcohol under any circumstances. The person who booked the bus is responsible for the group and must make sure alcohol is controlled, legal, and not shared with minors. For teen events, school events, and under-21 birthdays, the ride is alcohol-free.
What is the best way to ice down drinks for a long booking?
Bring at least one sturdy cooler with more ice than you think you will need, especially for 4-6 hour summer bookings. Cans are easier than glass, and reusable ice packs help reduce meltwater on the bus. Keep mixers, water, and non-alcoholic drinks in the same cooler so guests stay hydrated throughout the night.
